Character and Listed Buildings
Buildings that have special character or are listed demand a very specific and careful approach. Ensuring that the finished job is not only robust and sound is only part of the story - the character of the building has to be maintained also.
Chris Snell Roofing Specialist Ltd has over 30 years working on such projects.
Each project demands careful attention. Typically after surveying, work will involve stripping the roof of the existing tiles to the bare rafters and disposing of all unrecoverable material into skips.
The sound salvaged material will be reused to maintain the look of the building wherever posible.
Roof timbers will be prepared and sprayed to preserve the life of the wood.
Treated battens and breather membrane will be fixed and special attention to lead and any detail work would be undertaken.
Then tiling can begin, involving the salvaged material and making up the shortfall with second hand or new as required. All tiling will to a high standard.
As always, the job will be approved by the client and the site will be left clean and tidy - a hallmark of good quality workmanship.
Chris Snell has worked on churches, castles and stately homes. His skills encompass all forms of specialised lead work and traditional methods of ensuring the character of the building is maintained.
